As Chicago's only public hospital, Cook County has a unique, high energy and stimulating environment which provides outstanding clinical training in Dermatology. Our residency program is accredited for three years of post-graduate medical education leading to eligibility for certification by the American Board of Dermatology.
Three residents are accepted each year. Applicants are required to have completed at least one year of clinical training prior to the beginning of the program. Applicants who have completed prior residencies are encouraged to apply.
The program is clinically oriented and allows the residents to follow their assigned patients throughout the three years in a busy outpatient clinic. One half-day per week is devoted exclusively to our large Pediatric Dermatology Clinic. Inpatient ward service and hospital consultations under attending staff supervision provide training in the diagnosis and management of severely ill dermatological patients. Special emphasis is given to dermatological surgery, and dermatopathology. Lectures and conferences comprise part of the daily activities.
